The west coast of Harris has many unspoilt beaches, thanks to the geographical isolation of the Outer Hebrides. Fingers of Lewisian gneiss that jut into the sea interrupt long expanses of white sand dunes. The intensity of the Atlantic Ocean's azure blue next to the sparkling sand is a sight to behold. Late afternoon light casts a warm glow on sand and rocks smoothed by unrelenting waves.
