Living Art - inspired by nature to greater things
Living Art is on a mission to create a National Treasure
– an Arts foundation for the Environment
and aims to do this by building and directing national touring exhibitions. These ambitious collaborative works bring together professional artists and the public to create extraordinary, unique themed works of art with one goal… to promote, preserve and protect the beauty of nature.
Not for Profit:
Founded by Si Homfray in 2005, Living Art - a not-for-profit organisation - inspired by a love for the outdoors and a lifetimes frustration with environmental matters. It followed quite naturally then that, after 20 years in the marketing industry, he would tie together all these skills and passions together in Living Art.
Up to now Living Art has been almost entirely funded by his own money, through a sister business Hammer Design. However for 2007 the organisation is hoping to find grant funding, sponsorship and advertising income through its new and exciting projects such as a magazine due out in the Spring.
Living Art has gone from strength to strength since coming up with the idea of bringing artists together for shows, and now bringing the public together to create unique, extraordinary works of art, with one common aim – to promote the beauty of nature.
Living Art is now on year two of a ten-year plan to create a self-funding foundation that supports the environment through art… so there’s plenty to do. But one thing has become clear over the past two years – that everyone involved loves what they are doing, and that is something that Si Homfray says ‘gives us great heart and drives us on. If it has been this much fun getting here… the future can only be more joy.’
Its ambitions to put on cutting-edge exhibitions and art installations next year are now coming together - so look out for the exciting culmination of Symphony for the Mountains, The Big Picture of Natural Britain and the other projects that springboard from them in 2007.
Never shy of big plans:
2007 will be no exception and should see the launch of some very exciting national collaborations. Working titles include the words ‘Landscape’, ‘Wilderness’, ‘Rock’ and ‘Sea’. The next chapter of Living Arts seminal work ‘Heath and Heaven’ should launch, and perhaps of more interest to members who use the website, they will be unrolling new levels of really useful features enabling users to buy and sell their work, in addition to the unveiling of newly developed products that will present members art in completely new ways.
