Symphony for the Mountains – a nationwide tour
A celebration of some of the world’s most inaccessible mountain landscapes from some of the country's top mountaineers, outdoor photographers, painters and writers.
The Symphony for the Mountains Autumn 2007 – UK Touring
This work, essentially an interactive visual poem. sets out to express the human experience and spiritual gains from time spent in the world’s greatest mountain ranges through the use of photographs, music and words.
The range of images aims to express the enormous breadth of experiences and vistas witnessed in these wild locations.
From the harmonious and healing properties of being above the clouds to the extreme conditions and emotions of world mountaineering.

The central piece: The final touring work
This will be presented as a 30 minute show ( This will be an audio visual show comprising visual material supplied, words and an original soundtrack composed as part of the creative process).It is proposed that this arts piece will have a large interactive element thereby engaging a wider audience.
A National tour: The Symphony for the Mountains national tour will go to the public directly through:
• Select venues around the country ( t.b.c)
Kendal
Sheffield
Bristol
Manchester
Glasgow
London
• City centre venues
Subject to gaining final support and backing (work is well underway) Living Art will secure the use of a ‘Tour Display Vehicle’ which will allow the work to go on display to the general public around
20 UK city centre venues, thereby reaching the heart of the country.
Supporting work: The touring work will be accompanied by
• an exhibition of work for sale – prints, canvases, DVD, book.
• educational material
• large format graphic material clearly displaying all contributors
• charitable work – a tryptych on behalf of Community Action Nepal
• supporting work
This will comprise:
An original mix of material. Work: Displayed on screen, Digitally printed to canvas and paper, including oil and pastel work and artefact.
