Exhibitions : Symphony for the Mountains

Symphony for the Mountains

Symphony for the Mountains (an exhibition in 3 parts)

A celebration of some of the world’s most inaccessible mountain landscapes from some of the country's top mountaineers, outdoor photographers, painters and writers.

Part 1. Odyssey and expectation.   Exhibition Launched September 8th 2006
Part 2. Action, adrenalin and living.
Part 3. Epic and epiphany.
Finale.  A final work comprising all contributions will tour the UK. Details to be confirmed.

This work sets out to express the human experience and spiritual gains from time spent in the world’s greatest mountain ranges through the use of photographs, paintings and words.
The range of images aims to express the enormous breadth of experiences and vistas witnessed in these wild locations.
From the harmonious and healing properties of being above the clouds to the extreme conditions and emotions of world mountaineering.

Over the next 12 months we will build on this exhibition; more and more material will be gathered online and in the gallery. Photography, painting, film footage, words, video and an original soundtrack will be presented as the journey unfolds itself, in its 3 stage parts.

In the Autumn of 2008 the material will be integrated into an original giant on screen presentation and go on tour with the complete exhibition.

Media: An original mix of material. Work: Displayed on screen, Digitally printed to canvas and paper, including oil and pastel work and artefact.
Composition, concept, direction and production by Si Homfray of Living Art.

Launch venue: Living Art Gallery, Hathersage
Principle Sponsors:  TBA
Launched on: September 8th press launch and party.
