The White Mountains of North Conway in New England have hundreds of square miles of deciduous woodland - The Appalachian Mountains of New England. The most colourful species of leaf in the Autumn are the Aspen and the Maple. The intensity of colours each year varies according to the amount of sugar in the sap of the previous season. North East Coast America famous for its colours in the Fall it is equally famous for its Maple syrup made from the tree which is tapped on an annual basis and collected in a similar manner to rubber. © John Beatty
