Teaching takes up large amounts of my time, so the ability to capture images with a camera as art objects helps to keep my eye and mind open. Seeing strange juxtapositions of objects is part of the process... making a record of this seeing is vital to me and I frequently fail in this. I am fortunate to live within yards of open land, partly wooded and lightly managed, leading to naturally reclaimed areas of industrial and mining activity, populated with a reasonable collection of animals, with at least one red deer herd. Edale and the Dark Peak was a revelation to me this year, having relied upon Snowdonia for inspiration for several years.
