Exhibiting Members : Jerry Daniel

Most of my pictures are taken in quiet rural locations, this may may have been a necessary contrast to my professional life as a school teacher, or it may relate to my increasing deafness. The pictures have minimal manipulation to enhance traditional pictorial values. The pictures are personal in that any photographers pictures of the same location would be different. The images are mostly minor landscape features or intimate landscapes, rather than records of recognisable places. We interpret landscape images by imposing human values on them. Landscapes can be culture before they are nature, constructs of the imagination projected onto water, wood and rock. Some pictures have an element of perceptual ambiguity which reflects my art school background, some have a meloncholic feel, which reflects my interest in romantic art and my character - miserable old deaf git.
