| I love photographing abstract images of the natural world – and am interested in the way that time spent in nature links with our creativity, soul and spirit.
I am planning to explore our inner connection to the sea and wild places
through photography, and hope to find a way to express the spiritual dimension of women’s lives – in a language that resonates with their life experience.
Much of my work is photographing people – either as themselves for the fun of it! – or in groups, exploring certain themes and producing exhibitions such as :- Positive Body Image, Rollercoasting through the Menopause Years, Creativity and Fun in Dementia Care and the wonderful Jenny Joseph poem “When I am an old woman I shall wear purple”.
My career in the Health Service has given me the ability to facilitate people in thinking and talking about themselves and their experience of life – and I have used my photos in workshops to help a wide variety of people to look at changes they may want to make in their lives.
I have shown my work in solo and group exhibitions in the UK and Sydney (Australia) – and have run photo-based workshops at numerous Arts Festivals, Menopause conferences and Education and Community venues.
The people who have inspired me the most over the years – by sharing their love of photography with me are – John Blakemore, Jane Bowen, Paul Hill, Jo Spence and my father – who first showed me the magic of the darkroom.
