Events and Exhibitions Listings
The calendar lists both events and exhibitions of Living Art and other organisations. We have included events and exhibitions that share our vision, and that help raise awareness to the issues at stake concerning the natural world, through fun, informative and imaginative ways.
If you have an event or exhibition you think we should be listing please contact us at info@living-art.org.uk or visit our Suggestions page.

Exhibition
Face of the Earth
Venue: Nature in Art, Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, Gloucester
Face of the Earth, 10th June - 13th July 2008
2008 has been declared International Year of Planet Earth by the UN and to mark the occasion Nature in Art has brought together a series of works from both public and private collections that give fresh perspectives on some of the main themes of the year including:
- ‘deep Earth - from crust to core’
- ‘ocean - abyss of time’
- ‘soil - Earth’s living skin’
- ‘Earth and life - the origins of diversity’
The UN’s programme is designed to raise worldwide public and political awareness of the vast (but often under-used) potential of Earth sciences for improving the quality of life and safeguarding the planet. Although a science based initiative, art can play a pivotal role in inspiring and informing people about Earth sciences. For centuries the majesty of the planet, its stunning forms and colours have inspired artists, as have the myriad of environments in which countless species live. It also provides stone for sculptors and craftspeople, pigment for paints, the raw materials for glass and ceramics. The diversity of these impacts and influences will be reflected in the exhibition.
