Competitions : The Big Picture Competition : Landscape : Forest and Woodland

If you want to get technical, the modern-day definition of a forest is an area with a high density of trees where there is a large, closed canopy. Woodland, on the other hand, is an area with a largely open-canopy, with sunlight penetrating between trees. Grass, heath or scrub may develop between the trees.

Armed with these facts, venture out to ancient or new forest and woodland alike and see what you can snap.
