Ingleborough & Whernside from limestone pavement at White scars,North Yorkshire, October 2006.
Warm golden light falls on the limestone pavement’s complex texture and illuminates the lone thorn tree clinging to existence. In the near distance Ingleborough (724m) is partially obscured by dense cloud, disguising its bumpy profile that results from a sandstone cap on the limestone bed. The long ridge of Whernside (736m) in the far distance is also nearly hidden.
