On the Southern edge of the Kinder Scout plateau, between Crowden Tower and Noe Stool, lies an extraordinary collection of gritstone tors known as the woolpacks or, in reference to their strange animal-like shapes Whipsnade. Amoing them is this isolated block completely encircled by water, know to walkers as the Moat Stone. (extract courtesy of The Peak by Brian Redhead.) © Peak District National Park..
