Ann Whitfield

I am a landscape painter who enjoys wild places and I seek to convey my delight with an intense colour palette.

I work experimentally, and develop my own techniques to achieve a result in which I seek to be faithful to the place and my emotional response. I work in acrylics and other water based media.

Much of my recent work has been in watercolour and Indian ink. I use vibrant colours and a semi-abstract style to give a strong and distinctive personal voice in my work.

I have exhibited widely in the North East in group and solo exhibitions. I regularly open my studio in Barnard Castle to visitors and I enjoy the direct contact with my customers which this method of exhibiting permits. If you would like to visit, please get in touch to arrange a time or be added to my email list to be notified of advertised openings.

About Ann Whitfield

Based in Teesdale, I try to paint my experience of the Northern hills, where I walk and sketch as often as I can. I seek to convey the sense of awe and sheer joy the landscape arouses in me.
