Dave Butcher

Derbyshire-based Dave Butcher has been making photographic images since the early 1970s. He combines his twin passions of photography and hill and mountain walking to produce dramatic landscape images.

Dave prefers the traditional darkroom-based approach to monochrome printing, seeing this as the second creative phase in realising on paper what was envisaged at the time of exposure.

A chemist by profession, Dave worked for Ilford Imaging for 21 years until early retirement in 2002. Dave gained his Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in 1987 and has been selling framed prints from his hill and mountain landscapes for more than 15 years. His work has appeared in a number of publications, as well as his own book 'High Light - The Landscape Photography of Dave Butcher'.
